West Thurrock - The Thames by UK Fish Slayer

Species - Bass, Sole, Eels, Flounder, Whiting

This spot is a very good bass mark with multiple fish possible and some good size fish also.

The ground you will be fishing over is soft and relatively clear of snags although hitting longer casts can sometimes put you over the drop offs and on retrieving your lead it can become lodged in the soft mud.

5oz - 6oz gripper leads are the way to go to hold bottom.

Fishing two rods with varying tactics is definitely a wise bet at West Thurrock, one rod set up with a two or three hook scratching style rig with smaller size 2 hooks baited with fresh rag or lug worm will put you into bites, a second rod with a bigger bait such a whole squid or big worm wrap on size 3/0 or even 4/0 hooks, its a very good idea to drop the big bait rod no more than 30yds out as this is where many of the bigger Bass are regularly taken.

As with next to all of the north Thames marks fishing is done 3hrs either side of high water with the ebb here generally fishing best, good sport can be found way into the ebb almost until there is no water in front of you.

If you can get fresh maddies these can be a killer bait.
